Edinburgh Marathon course map poster

The Edinburgh Marathon starts on Potterrow by McEwan Hall, passes Greyfriars Bobby and crosses the Royal Mile, with St Giles' Cathedral on one side and the castle on the other. It runs down the Mound into the New Town and through Princes Street Gardens, then back up past the Scottish Parliament to a turn in Holyrood Park below Arthur's Seat.

From there it heads east to the promenade at Portobello and follows the East Lothian coast past Musselburgh, home of the oldest golf course in the world, out to Gosford House. Then it turns back along the coast to finish in Musselburgh. After a drop of almost 90 m from the city centre to near sea level, the rest of the course is flat.
