Honolulu Marathon course map poster

The Honolulu Marathon starts on Ala Moana Boulevard by Ala Moana Beach Park and runs through Downtown Honolulu on South King Street, past Iolani Palace and the King Kamehameha statue. Then it crosses the Ala Wai Canal into Waikiki and runs along Kalakaua Avenue by the beach.

From there it circles Diamond Head crater, follows Kalanianaole Highway out to a loop around an inland waterway in Hawaii Kai, and doubles back for four miles. It circles Diamond Head again, passes the lighthouse in the last mile, and finishes in Kapiolani Park. In 1995 it was the largest marathon in the world, with 27,022 finishers.
