We took every fact about The Night Sky from its own website on 2026-10-26. Prices are for US orders in US dollars and can change.
How we draw your sky
We use a catalogue of 5,068 stars, with stars as faint as magnitude 6, about the faintest the eye can see on a dark night. The Night Sky also draws stars down to magnitude 6. We draw the stars above your horizon, add 673 constellation lines and correct each star for precession, the slow wobble of the Earth's axis, on your date.
We convert your time with the time zone and daylight saving rules of your place, then turn the sky to your latitude and longitude. Add the Moon if you want it, in its real phase and position for your place and minute.
Pick any date and time from 1900 to 2100, so you can also make a map for a night that hasn't happened yet, like a wedding day or a due date.
Make it yours
Choose from 4 color themes, Midnight, Starlight, Eclipse and Aurora, and 4 map styles. Write your own title and message, and pick a portrait or a square print.
Our squares come in 16 × 16 and 20 × 20 in. They suit a shelf, a gallery wall or the space above a bed.
Price and frames
An unframed 18 × 24 in print costs $69 at both shops. Framed, it's $158 with us and $140 at The Night Sky. Our price includes free tracked shipping to any US address.
Our frames come in black, white or natural, ready to hang, at every size. We print each map after you order it and ship it to your door.
When The Night Sky may suit you better
The Night Sky makes a few things we don't: a 24 × 32 in size, foil, glow-in-the-dark and canvas prints, a digital file and star map jewelry. If you want one of those, it's a good choice.
