A baptism star map

A baptism star map shows the stars above the church, river or baptistery on the day of a baptism, at the minute it happened. You add a name and a message, and we print it on matte art paper.

It suits an infant baptism, a believer's baptism and a Latter-day Saint baptism at age eight. It's a keepsake for the person's room, or a gift from a godparent, a grandparent or a friend.

Which day, time and place to choose

Use the day of the baptism and the city or town where it took place. The certificate, the invitation or the church bulletin shows the date, and the photographer's timeline or the first photo usually shows the time.

Most baptisms happen in the daytime, and that's fine. The map shows the stars that were above the place at that minute, even though the sun hid them. If you'd rather show a dark sky, use the evening of the celebration meal.

For a baptism in a river, a lake or the sea, search for the nearest city or town. A few miles make no visible difference to the sky.

Some Latter-day Saint families also celebrate the confirmation that follows the baptism. Choose whichever moment your family treasures most.

One print for every kind of baptism

For an infant baptism, a godparent or grandparent can order the print and put the baby's name in the title. For a believer's baptism, the person often has a verse of their own, so ask them before you order.

A Latter-day Saint child is baptized at eight. A print with their name and the date is a keepsake they can hang in their own room.

A theme for the day

Starlight is a light paper with dark ink, and it suits a bright room and the white of a baptismal gown. Eclipse is a deep blue, and Midnight is a near black with light stars.

Turn on the Moon if the day had one in the sky. We calculate its position and phase for your place and time, and it only shows when it was above the horizon.

Size, frame and timing

The 12 × 16 in print fits a child's wall, a dresser or a hallway. A black, white or natural frame is ready to hang the day it arrives.

We print each map after you order it, so order a few weeks before the baptism if you want to hand it over on the day. We can't promise a delivery date. If time is short, show the preview from the editor on your phone or put it in a card, and tell them the print is on its way.
