An engagement star map
An engagement star map shows the stars above the place of the proposal, at the minute the question was asked. It keeps a night that is easy to remember and hard to show.
It is a gift for your new fiancé or fiancée, or for friends who just got engaged. Below you can find how to pin down the moment, what to write, and when to give it.

Which date, time and place to choose
Use the exact spot of the proposal: the beach, the bridge, the restaurant or the living room. Search for the nearest town or city. The sky changes very little over a few miles.
For the time, check a photo or a message from that night. Phones save the time of each photo, so the first photo of the ring is often the best record.
If the proposal was abroad, enter the local time there. We use the time zone of the place, including daylight saving time.

Message ideas
- The sky above us when you said yes.
- I asked, you said yes, and the stars were there to see it.
- Lisbon, a quiet street, and the easiest question I ever asked.
- Congratulations on your engagement. Here is the sky above your yes.
- The night our story got its next chapter.
- Of all the questions, this was the only one that mattered.
When to give it
Give it at the engagement party, on your one-month anniversary of the proposal, or on the wedding morning as a gift between the two of you.
We print each map after you order it and then ship it, so order a few weeks before the date you want to give it.
Choosing a style
There are four themes: Midnight, Starlight, Eclipse and Aurora. There are four map styles: Outline, Solid, Inverse solid and Inverse outline. The inverse styles swap the colors of the paper and the ink.
If you plan to hang a wedding star map later, choose the same theme and size now. Two matching prints, one for the proposal and one for the wedding, make a pair.
Framed or print only
Choose a frame in black, white or natural for a gift that is ready to hang. Choose a print only if the couple is moving soon or likes to frame art themselves.
What to write
Put the moment in the title and the detail in the message. Name the place, the weather, or what one of you said. A line only the two of you understand is better than a famous quote.
If the gift is for friends who just got engaged, use their names and the date, and keep the message to a short congratulation.
